Cell (excerpt #2)

Dealing with a concept I call "sense-shifting", described as a means to be omni-sensitive to both psycho-tactile objects and non-existent phenomena.

My interest in microscopy and invisiblity was coupled with the use of an electric carpet (a Japanese product, similar to an electric blanket), re-wired to function as an antenna.
The actual sound source, picked up by this "antenna", is made up of CB/radio & other sound waves from traffic on a nearby highway (close to the location of the recording, but not visible).
Sounds were received & recorded by the make-shift antenna for a period of approximately 2 months, then extensively reviewed, edited, sampled and reformed to fit a composition based on the 4 stages of cell division.
The composition was realized by reforming all the structural elements of these 4 stages into 4 corresponding soundscapes, using binary code as means to chart the process from micro-structure to audibility.
