The Swedish experimental art fair Stockholm Smart Show is staged from
March 7th to 10th. Each year the organizers gives carte blanche to chosen
pilot experiments. Among the chosen participants this year is artnode.dk
which is an umbrella organization of Danish internet galleries and magazines.
artnode.dk has chosen to present a video show with Danish and foreign artists
with whom artnode.dk collaborates. From the start artnode.dk has found it
important to collaborate with artists who have the capacity to work
in several different setp; ups, therefore the presentation format in
Stockholm is not computerbased, but video.
The many different setp;ups that pictorial art has to its disposal now
each hold their own characteristic expressive range, while none of them
can presume primary status. If the problematics of the object were central
to the discussions of the 80ties art, the status of the subject
and its possibilities of expression is the axis of art practicies in the 90ties.
Therefore the individual artist often use several different medias and strategies
although these dispositions cannot be synthesized to a singular, supreme
project, nor can they be read as arbitrary fragments. This 'loose' subjectivity
which even though often asserted to be so is neither narcissistic nor postmodern
constitutes an effective, contemporary tactics for existence.
